Stopping a panic attack before it becomes a full-blown attack is always recommended.
As an ex-victim of panic disorder, there are some effective ways to stopping a panic attack:
- Taking Benzodiazepines (anti-anxiety medications), or
- Applying techniques like the Deep Breathing Technique or The Distraction Technique
I am very sure you are resorting to the second option more than the first option.
Unfortunately, both of these options are only meant for short-term aid.
Although Option one is effective and curbs your panic attacks before it becomes a full-blown, if you rely on Benzodiazepines or any anti-anxiety medications your body will become dependent on it and this is just worse.
Option two, on the other hand, isn't effective sometimes. Most people will still experience a full-blown panic attack later.
The frightening thing about panic attacks is as you begin to be defeated everytime a panic attack occurs, your subconscious mind will contract your comfort-zone. So the more attacks you have, the smaller your comfort-zone will be. Soon or later, you will have agoraphobia.
So How To Get Rid of Panic Attacks?
Firstly, resort to natural alternatives and find an even MORE EFFECTIVE technique. Distraction and Breathing techniques are not effective at all.
Preventing Panic Attacks isn't a good choice as you heard of the old saying, "You can run, but you can't hide". Like a shadow following you, you can't lose it off... it will continue to follow you even if you run.
